Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus, and his name is Theo Epstein

After Yanks' deadline passes, Red Sox jump into lead for Santana [ESPN]

Obviously the immediate result would sting for the Yanks, but as long as Phil Hughes remains in pinstripes we're still better off in the long run. Additionally, I don't give a shit about what happens north of Exit 6 on the Major Deegan.

We can all take a long deep breath, the big three are here, and here to stay!!!

Unless... the Yankees decide that Danny Haren is so necessary to us winning and matching that rascally rabbit Boston that we HAVE to trade our starting center fielder (Cabrera) and one starting pitcher (Joba, Hughes or Kennedy) for a slightly older, slightly more proven, more expensive and comparatively talented pitcher.

Please Yankees Front Office, see reason, be happy with the big three and Moose and Pettitte. Kennedy is comparatively talented to Haren with Joba and Hughes more so.

We need to continue this campaign, may turn it into Save the Yankee Trinity and prevent a trade for Haren.

I'm very, very nervous that the thought of this stocked Red Sox rotation will make the Yanks go out and just deal Hughes for Haren. We're far from out of the woods at this point.

Also, even if we survive this round, Hank Steinbrenner's bizarre antics are reason to think we could be heading back to a dark Bronx Zoo era for years to come!

Haren announced today he doesnt want to be traded.
Every time I turn around it keeps getting better for us Phil fans. The kid is the ace of the future and he has two aces right behind him in Joba and Ian. Wang is only 27 and if they can get one more decent starter, well let's just say I like my chances.
If the Sox don't get Johan, they will have Beckett, Dice-K, and the two young ones. Past them pitching wise they don't have nearly enough youthful talent. I like where this is going.

boston doesn't have nearly enough youthful talent!!?! what is this shit coming out of your mouth!? Boston has the same or even slightly better talent than the Yankees. Ellsbury, Papelbon, Pedroia, Youkilis, Lester, Buchholz, Delcarmen all came through the system and were all big parts of the Sox's WS run. They also have prospects like Masterson (who some scouts have said could be better than Buchholz is), Bowden, Lowrie ect, ect...
